HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities are questioning a student who allegedly had a gun at West Ottawa High School, leading to a lockdown Thursday.
Capt. Mark Bennett confirmed reports of a student with a gun on the roof of the school to the Holland Sentinel.
Bennett says students immediately went to administrators about the potential threat. Those administrators notified school resource deputies around 10:28 a.m., and the deputies took the 17-year-old boy into custody without incident, according to Bennett.
The student had a small caliber handgun, but no shots were fired and no one was injured, Bennett said.
In a tweet just before 11:30 a.m., the school said the lockdown and shelter in place order had been lifted and normal school activities had resumed. The school did not release any additional information regarding the incident.
