Rescue crews pull 5 from Paw Paw River

WATERVLIET TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Emergency responders had to remove several people from the Paw Paw River north of Watervliet Sunday afternoon.

The Berrien County Sheriff's Office said it and other agencies were first called to the river in Watervliet Township around 2:40 p.m. on a report of two missing tubers.

As rescuers looked, they came upon three other people who had fallen out of their kayaks or inner tubes and needed help. They also found the two tubers they had been called out for.
