MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — Investigators say a Muskegon man is dead after being pulled from Muskegon Lake.
It happened shortly before 9:30 a.m. Friday on the south side of the lake, at the tip of a peninsula southwest of downtown Muskegon.
Investigators found a small dingy near the body of the 48-year-old man, which was found in the water and pulled ashore. At this point, it’s unclear if the boat belonged to the victim, according to Muskegon Department of Public Safety Director Jeff Lewis. No life jackets were found nearby.
It's unclear how long the man was in the water, but authorities believe he drowned. Investigators say there is no obvious signs of trauma to his body.
Police are withholding the man's name until they've notified his family.
