Gastro pub planned for Grand Rapids' Midtown

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A new restaurant is coming to Grand Rapids’ bustling Michigan Street corridor in Midtown.

Developers say the long vacant Lord’s Chapel building at 720 Michigan Street NE is already being transformed into The Friesian Gastro Pub.

The 2,800 square-foot restaurant will feature a handmade wood and steel bar on the first floor and a menu of comfort foods with a twist. The Friesian’s owners are also working on obtaining a state liquor license to serve up craft beers, liquor and wine, in addition to coffee and tea.

"Grand Rapids has a rich Dutch heritage, so we wanted to give a nod to that tradition. You may see a Dutch menu item or two, but we're really aiming to be a casual neighborhood gastro pub," investor Zan Lamkin said in a Friday news release about the restaurant.
