DETROIT, Mich. (WOOD) — The pink Cadillacs have arrived as Michigan gets ready to say goodbye to the Queen of Soul.
Aretha Franklin died Aug. 16 at the age of 76, after battling pancreatic cancer.
After a week of tributes to Franklin, which included concerts and three days of public viewings in Motown, her polished bronze casket was moved to Greater Grace Temple in Detroit for Friday’s funeral.
Rev. Marvin Sapp of Grand Rapids is among the people expected to speak at Franklin’s five-hour service. Former President Bill Clinton, the Rev. Jesse Jackson and Smokey Robinson are also on the list.
Stevie Wonder, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia, Faith Hill, Shirley Caesar, Chaka Khan and others are expected to perform.
