GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Rapids’ Downtown Market and the Alger Heights neighborhood will soon welcome new restaurants.
The Downtown Market says the brothers and owners of Rak Thai plan to open Juju Bird in October. It will take over the space that was previously home to Making Thyme Kitchen, which is getting its own building at 2409 Eastern Ave. in Alger Heights.
The Downtown Market says Juju Bird will serve up buttermilk fried chicken as well as wings, chicken tenders and fried chicken sandwiches with traditional sides like mashed potatoes and pasta salad. The owners of Juju Bird plan to use all-natural, non-GMO chicken in their dishes.
Juju Bird customers can dine in or order take out or catering.
Co-owner Blon Hang says Rak Thai just marked its best year ever and he and his brother are excited to open the new concept restaurant.
Construction on Juju Bird is expected to start Sept. 2; Making Thyme Kitchen expects to open its new kitchen and store during the second week of September.
