WAYLAND, Mich. (WOOD) — Bride-to-be Amber Anderson was stunned when she got word: an email from her wedding venue saying they could no longer host her Oct. 6 ceremony and reception.
"Basically my world exploded at 10 o' clock last night," Anderson said. "You spend all this time working on it and when it falls apart it's just insanity, you don't know what you're gonna do."
Mark Shepherd owns the venue, the Lumber Yard Events Center in Wayland, a refurbished 1800s barn they started working on last summer after they got a special use permit.
City leaders determined Shepherd needed to develop more parking on the property, and this spring gave him an Aug. 1 deadline to at least show them engineered site plan drawings.
That deadline came and went, and the permit was revoked Monday night.
