GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Michigan gubernatorial candidate Gretchen Whitmer and other Democrats running for office will address supporters at a Grand Rapids park today.
The Progressives in the Park event, sponsored by the One Michigan Alliance, at Wilcox Park is free and aims to provide information about the work being done for progressive causes. In addition to political speeches, there will be food for everyone and play areas for children.
Among those expected to speak is Dana Nessell, the Democrat running for state attorney general, and secretary of state candidate Jocelyn Benson. Two state representatives for Grand Rapids, Winnie Brinks, who’s running for state Senate, and David LaGrand, who's up for re-election, were also there. Whitmer is scheduled wrap up the event, which runs until 8 p.m.
