GRANDVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — Dozens of people gathered Saturday in Grandville to golf for a good cause and to honor a well-known pastor who died earlier this year.
More than 100 people teed off at the first annual Reverend Clifton Rhodes Jr. Memorial Golf Classic at Maple Hill, Rhodes' favorite golf course in West Michigan.
The event raised money for ALS research, youth scholarships and local food pantries.
Rhodes, who died in April at the age of 74, spent nearly a half century as head pastor of Grand Rapids' oldest black Baptist church, Messiah Missionary Baptist.
