BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — A Calhoun County woman says she didn’t know she had a lottery ticket worth $250,000 sitting in her purse for weeks until she visited the Michigan Lottery headquarters in Lansing Thursday.
The 84-year-old woman told lottery officials she buys a Keno ticket every day, but it was the one she picked up for the July 19 drawing that ultimately paid off, matching 10 of the 22 winning numbers.
The Keno ticket came from the Family Fare store at 1603 Capital Avenue in Battle Creek. The lucky player said when she fished the ticket out of her purse and had the store scan it, they told her to go to Lansing, but she never thought she might have won $250,000
"When I got here today they scanned my ticket at the front desk and told me I won $250,000, I broke down in tears. It was so overwhelming,” the woman said of her trip to the lottery headquarters.
