GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Republican Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette and former state Sen. Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat, will be their parties' candidates in the November gubernatorial election, the Associated Press is projecting.
In Tuesday's primary, Schuette came out ahead in a field that included Lt. Gov. Brian Calley, state Sen. Patrick Colbeck and Dr. Jim Hines. Whitmer beat Dr. Abdul El-Sayed and businessman Shri Thanedar.
