DETROIT (WOOD) -- A church group forced to cancel a mission trip to Haiti found a way to still travel while serving the underprivileged there.
Earlier this week a group from Vermontville Bible Church learned they could not travel to Haiti because of unrest in the country.
One of the missionaries, Sara Martin, told 24 Hour News 8 the group successfully changed plans and began a trip to Jamaica Saturday morning.
"We are going to be serving with Caribbean Lifetime Missions in Bamboo, Jamaica," Martin said in a message sent from the airport. "It's a very poor village in the mountains, just outside of Ocho Rios."
