DETROIT (WOOD) — Authorities are searching for two suspects who hacked into a pump and stole more than 600 gallons of gasoline from a gas station in Detroit.
The Detroit Police Department said it happened around 1 p.m. on June 23 at a gas station in the 17800 block of 7 Mile on the city’s west side. Police released surveillance images of the suspects Wednesday.
Investigators believe the suspects used a remote device to hack the pump and prevent the clerk from turning it off.
WDIV, the NBC affiliate in Detroit, reports that for about 90 minutes vehicles used the pump to fill up. It's unknown if those drivers paid the suspects or got the gas for free.
If anyone recognizes the suspects or has any information about the incident, please call the Detroit Police Department’s eighth precinct at 313.596.5840 or Crime Stoppers at 1.800.SPEAK.UP.
