PAVILION TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A Portage man was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle and becoming pinned under one of its tires.
The crash happened shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday on East S Avenue just east of South 26th Street in Pavilion Township, southeast of Portage.
The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office says the 70-year-old man was in the roadway when he was hit by a westbound vehicle. The pedestrian was pinned under the vehicle’s tire when it came to a stop, deputies say.
An ambulance took the man to the hospital with several serious injuries. The driver wasn’t injured.
Authorities say alcohol was not a factor in the incident, which remains under investigation.
