Driver in crash that killed John Canepa sentenced

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The driver who hit and killed a Grand Rapids business leader was sentenced on Wednesday.

Amy Brock was sentenced to 21 days in jail with credit for one day served, 40 hours of community service and was ordered to pay $1,725 in fines.

The incident happened on Jan. 22 in the 500 block of Leonard Street NW, west of Hamilton Avenue. John Canepa, who helped with the development of downtown Grand Rapids, was hit by Brock’s vehicle while crossing the street and died in a hospital days after.
