Clyde Park Ave. closed after water main break

WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — A broken water main in Wyoming spewed water onto the road and into surrounding parking lots.

The break happened around 3 p.m. Thursday along Clyde Park Avenue near 28th Street.

Witnesses described a gushing geyser of water. The owner of nearby business Flowerland, Rick Vuyst, said the back of his building and parking lot were flooded. He said he rushed customers out of the store to move their cars from the lot.

Crews told 24 Hour News 8 they had to suction away the excess water before they could dig down to the main to find out what cause the break and fix it.

Additionally, the road buckled with the break, so extensive repairs will be needed there.
