Officials in North Korea say leader Kim Jong Un will not attend the upcoming summit with President Donald Trump if the North is pressured to end its nuclear program.
North Korean first vice foreign minister Kim Kye Gwan released a statement Wednesday criticizing American officials who say the North should get rid of that program as well as its methods of chemical and biological warfare.
He said the country would be willing to send its leader to the summit if the Trump administration "approaches the North-Korea U.S. summit meeting with a truthful intent to improve relations.
The statement came shortly after North Korea canceled a meeting with the South because of South Korea's joint military exercises with the U.S.
The North Korean-U.S. summit is scheduled for June 12th in Singapore.
