RAVENNA, Mich. (WOOD) — A person driving a stolen pickup truck caused a chain-reaction crash in Ravenna Tuesday that injured three people, one of them critically.
Michigan State Police say the pickup was stolen in Muskegon Township. Only a few minutes later, around 5 p.m., a trooper spotted it headed east on Heights Ravenna Road in Sullivan Township.
The trooper tried to pull the truck over, but the driver didn't stop and instead sped up. The trooper gave chase for about two minutes before giving it up and losing sight of the truck.
About seven minutes later, MSP says, the truck ran the stop sign at the intersection of Heights Ravenna Road and Main Street in Ravenna and hit a Honda Accord. The Accord was shoved into a Buick LaCrosse.
