GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Detroit Pistons legend Ben Wallace has come back to the franchise years after his playing days were over.
Hopeful for a career in an NBA front office someday, Wallace agreed to become part-owner of the Grand Rapids Drive, the Pistons’ G League affiliate. During an introductory press conference, Wallace said his new role gives him a chance to show teams his leadership abilities.
“It’s just a blessing because it’s like being able to come back home,” Wallace said. “All the fans still love and appreciate me, and I still love and appreciate them. It’s giving me the opportunity to come back to familiar territory, so it’s not like I’m going somewhere else and I’ve got to start all over.”
