EAST LANSING, Mich. (WOOD) — One of the Michigan State University trustees believes it's time for the university to fix its "cultural problem," proposing new policies and calling for an independent investigation into how the university handled Larry Nassar during a tenure that ultimately led to prison for the formerly renowned sports doctor.
In a document titled "New Day MSU," Trustee Brian Mosallam wrote: "We must listen. We must learn. Now, together, we must fight to do what is right by our Spartan Community, especially our courageous survivors."
Mosallam is the only trustee to host a town hall meeting with the MSU community. In February, he listened to what students, faculty and Nassar survivors want to see change on campus after then-newly appointed Interim President John Engler declined requests for a public forum.
