GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (via WOOD TV 8) — A group of parents of special needs students in Kent County have made it clear they are not happy with changes being made to the programs they rely on for their children.
The response from the schools has been that the changes are necessary and for the best. But now, those programs are getting a review by an outside evaluator.
Grand Rapids Public Schools runs Center Based Programs for all the Kent County Intermediate School district. These are programs for students with severe disabilities who are not mainstreamed in the regular buildings.
GRPS has embarked on a series of changes that has had some parents calling for the firing of the person who runs the program.
