Jury seated in Heeringa trial

MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — The process to pick a jury in the trial of Jeffrey Willis, accused of kidnapping and killing Jessica Heeringa, concluded Friday afternoon.

It took attorneys and Judge William Marietti three days to find 61 people to put in the pool of potential jurors. Now they have narrowed that to 14 — eight women and six males. There are 12 jurors and two alternates.

Opening statements will happen 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, as the trial is scheduled to be off Monday.

Authorities say that on April 26, 2013, Willis abducted Heeringa, 25, from the Norton Shores gas station where she worked and killed her. Her body has not been found.
