Kentwood judge honored by GR Bar Association

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A West Michigan judge received a high honor from the Grand Rapids Bar Association Tuesday.

Kentwood Judge William Kelly was honored for his commitment to service during the group’s Law Day Celebration Luncheon in which he received the Donald R. Worsfold Award. He has served the Kentwood community as the city’s first and only district court judge since 1979.

Kelly was elected in 1978 after his father, who served as Kentwood’s municipal judge.

“It’s a great honor, and I want to thank the bar association,” he said. “It’s a reward for doing something I really love doing. It’s made me a better lawyer and a better judge.”
