A new report says Special Counsel Robert Mueller has reportedly mentioned the idea of issuing a subpoena for President Trump in the past.
According to the Washington Post, Mueller warned the president's legal team during a meeting in March that if Trump declined to talk with investigators in the Russia investigation, he could force Trump to go before a grand jury by using a subpoena.
Fox News has confirmed that John Dowd, who once served as the president's lead attorney, responded to Mueller's warning by saying "this isn't some game. You are screwing with the work of the president of the United States."
Dowd reportedly later resigned due to a dispute over how to respond for the special counsel's interview request.
