KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — After more than a decade as Kalamazoo's mayor, Bobby Hopewell says he will not run for re-election.
Hopewell made the announcement at Monday night's city commission meeting, after which he posted his statements on his website. In those comments, he said he had been planning the move for some time.
"Mainly it's time for the next leaders to take the reins," he told 24 Hour News 8 in a text message later Monday night.
He also said he will not seek any other elected offices.
