GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The beginning stages of a much colder weather pattern has arrived. Wind chills in the teens early Thursday morning are only part of the story.
The cold air moving across Lake Michigan will kick off several rounds of lake-effect snow, the first of which arrives Wednesday night and lasts through Thursday afternoon.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Allegan, Kalamazoo, Mason, Muskegon, Oceana, Ottawa and Van Buren counties until 4 p.m. Thursday.
This first snow event will not be the last in the coming week. A low pressure system is forecast to move through Friday night into early Saturday that will produce snow in areas even away from Lake Michigan. The majority of the bounty of snow will still be closer to the lakeshore.
