FROM WOOD TV 8:
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A few thousand people in Grand Rapids lost power Saturday afternoon.
Consumers Energy’s interactive power outage map shows around 7,800 customers in Kent County are without service. Many of those are Grand Rapids’ West Side. Outages are also affecting downtown and the Arena District.
Power went out shortly after 3:30 p.m. Consumers estimates service should be restored around 6:30 p.m.
A problem with a 46,000-volt line is at the root of the outage, Consumers said, but what caused that problem was not immediately clear.
This is a developing situation. Stay HERE for more details as they become available at woodtv.com.
