KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Drivers heading to downtown Kalamazoo can expect hours of detours after a tanker rolled on Westnedge Avenue, blocking all four lanes of traffic.
The crash happened around 3:31 p.m. Wednesday on S. Westnedge Avenue at Inkster Avenue.
Witnesses told police a southbound car crossed the center lane, hitting the tanker truck The tanker truck then began to roll, colliding with a third vehicle, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.
One person suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene, officers said.
S. Westnedge Avenue is shut down in both directions. It is expected to remain closed for 3 to 6 hours as crews bring in another truck from Northern Michigan to transfer the wrecked tanker’s contents. They will then right the tanker truck.
