Undersheriff: ‘Armed, dangerous’ man sought in 2 homicides

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities are searching for a suspect  they say shot and killed two people in two counties Thursday night.

The St. Joseph County Undersheriff Mark Lillywhite told 24 Hour News 8  that the suspect is 32-year-old Zachary Michael Patten. He is believed  to be driving a silver, 2004 Chrysler Pacifica with Michigan license  plate CLN 8244.

Patten is believed to be armed and dangerous. If you see him, do not approach and call 911.

The first shooting happened around 9:38 p.m. Thursday at a mobile home park in the 1800 block of Tray Lane in Kalamazoo.

Witnesses told police that the 31-year-old victim was shot after an argument. Officers performed CPR, but she died on scene.

The second shooting happened around 10:15 p.m. Thursday at home in  the 16000 block of Featherstone Road in Florence Township, south of  Three Rivers.

Lillywhite said the suspect forced his way into the home, got into a  struggled with the victim and shot him. The victim was taken to the  hospital where he died from his injuries.

Investigators say the suspect knew both of the victims.
