MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — Emergency crews on Saturday scoured Lake Michigan in Muskegon, looking for a swimmer who reportedly disappeared under the water.
Boats and divers responded and a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter flew over the search area near Pere Marquette Park.
Around 3:30 p.m., according to Muskegon Public Safety Services, there was a report that a swimmer was seen struggling and never returned to shore.
After about four hours, the search was suspended for the night. Crews were expected to resume the search Sunday, assuming the weather cooperated.
The water temperature was about 64 degrees Saturday.
Also Saturday afternoon, a teen was pulled from an inland lake near Jenison and hospitalized in critical condition.
