WYOMING, Mich. -- Orthopedic Associates of Michigan will break ground on a new outpatient surgery center Thursday afternoon in Wyoming.
Due to the cold weather, the ceremony will take place indoors at the University of Michigan's Health-West Village campus. UM-Health said in a news release the surgery center will expand access to orthopedic care and modern outpatient surgical services for patients across West Michigan. It will include eight operating rooms, two procedure rooms, urgent care, clinic space and occupational therapy with 23-hour stay capability. The project is being done in partnership with the hospital and U-M Health.
Details about the project cost were not immediately available.
The event is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m., after a photo-taking ceremony outside. The rest of the ceremony is indoors. Those scheduled to speak include:
• Kenneth Easton, MD, President, Orthopedic Associates of Michigan
• Ronald Grifka, MD, President, UM Health-West
• Additional clinical and project leaders from OAM and UM Health-West
UM-Health said, "The project builds on the long-standing relationship between OAM and UM Health-West and expands access to orthopedic services across West Michigan."
