PD: Alleged company stabber may have been inspired by murder of CEO

GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - A man remains jailed on a $500,000 bond after police in Fruitport Township say he stabbed the president of Anderson Express.

Nathan Mahoney had been with the manufacturing company for only two weeks.

He's been charged with assault with intent to murder.

Investigators are trying to determine if Mahoney was inspired by the recent murder of United Healthcare's chief executive.

"We haven't ruled out copycat motive in regards to this," Deputy Chief Greg Poulson told WOOD-TV. "We're going through all his social accounts, all his electronic media and trying to determine a motive for this act."

Anyone with information on the case is being urged to call Fruitport police at (231) 865-8477 or Silent Observer at (231) 722-7463.
