63rd District Court Judge Sara J. Smolenski Announces Retirement

Judge Sara J. Smolenski has announced her retirement from the Kent County 63rd District Court.

She is scheduled to retire effective July 15th. Judge Smolenski career spans 34-years years, having first been elected back in 1990. In a news release, Judge Smolenski says she has really enjoyed her time at the 63rd District Court, but that it's time to retire.

 “Judge Jeffrey O’Hara and the staff at the 63rd District Court are exceptional people, and I will miss them. I am grateful for all the support the community has shown me throughout my career.” said Judge Smolenski.

Throughout her career, Judge Smolenski contributed her time and expertise to numerous boards and organizations, such as American Cancer Society, Hospice of Michigan and many others. Her work was also recognized with numerous awards for her community involvement and judicial excellence.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer will appoint a successor to fill the vacancy.
