Corewell Health to hold ribbon-cutting for new nursing center Tuesday

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Corewell Health will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday afternoon for a new rehabilitation and nursing center in northeast Grand Rapids.

It will be at 1226 Cedar Street, which is just east of Fuller Avenue, between Bradford and Leonard streets.

The new facility will accommodate 120 long-term residents who require skilled nursing care services. An additional five rooms are dedicated to acute care.

The facility also includes an on-site dialysis center in partnership with Davita Dialysis and therapeutic programs such as art therapy. A 2,000 square foot therapy gym is dedicated to help residents achieve and maintain physical health goals.

The overall 100,000-plus square-foot facility's living spaces are on one level, with easy access to the outdoors, including several courtyards.

Karen Pakkala, vice president for Continuing Care, will give the opening. Dr. Alejandro Quiroga, president of Corewell Health in West Michigan and Chad Tuttle, senior vice president of Clinical Shared Services, will make some remarks.

A light lunch and an open house will take place at noon, followed by guided building tours.
