BBB announces Trade Scholarship

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Better Business Bureau has announced its first Trade Scholarship.

It will support students who choose to go into a trades career following high school. The B-B-B Trades Scholarship is open to high school graduates of the class of 2024 who live and attended school within the Better Business Bureau of Western Michigan’s 38 county service area. Students must also be employed by, or have accepted an offer of employment from, a BBB-accredited business in West Michigan.

 Eligible trades include Construction Trades (plumbing, electric, roofing, concrete etc...), Welding, Landscaping, Painting, Heating and Cooling, Auto/Machinery Repair, Pest Control and Tree Removal. 

Applications will be reviewed and approved by a committee of business leaders who will select the recipients and determine scholarship amounts. Scholarships between $50 and $1,000 will be awarded. Some awardees may receive partial approval based on the number of awards and availability of funds. 

Submitting an application does not guarantee approval. 

The first application window will close May 3, 2024. Awards will be announced by May 24. 

A second application window for businesses and students will be available June 1, 2024, with awards announced by June 15.
