Armed Forces Thanksgiving set for May 17 in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The ninth annual Armed Forces Thanksgiving takes place May 17th at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum, and at Ah-Nab-Awen Park.

A luncheon will be held at the J-W Marriott in downtown Grand Rapids. The event raises awareness about the contributions of military personnel. Sergeant Mike Keast is vice president at Union Bank. He talked about it on West Michigan's Morning News:

"This event really helps students, educators and community leaders from across the region who have enjoyed this event, and participating in the luncheon. They find it rewarding because it focuses on honoring local veterans. And then, also, the military traditions that are very much a part of the United States," Keast said.

The event was created in 2014 by a group of Grand Rapids business leaders as a way for the community to express gratitude for those who serve in our Armed Forces.
