Heart of West Michigan United Way to host free tax day events

GRAND RPAIDS, Mich. -- The Heart of West Michigan United Way will host free community tax day events on some Saturdays, beginning this weekend.

The first one will be at Journey Church on Alger Street in Grand Rapids, this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Qualifying individuals and families with a household income of 65-thousand dollars or less can get their taxes prepped and filed at no-cost. IRS-certified volunteers help individuals and families receive their returns and Earned Income Tax Credit.

The event is part of the Kent County Tax Credit Collation (KCTCC) Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.  Clients must have all the required documents. Visit www.hwmuw.org/kctcc or call 2-1-1 for more information and list of documents. Walk-in appointments are first come, first served.
