Ex-Trinity Health Grand Haven accounting manager charged with embezzlemnt

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. -- The Grand Haven Department of Public Safety says a 60-year-old Spring Lake woman has been arrested and arraigned for an alleged embezzlement at Trinity Health Grand Haven.

Grand Haven Public Safety said in social-media posts that Cindy Sue Norgren previously was employed at Trinity Health as an accounting manager. After some funds came up missing, detectives launched an investigation in December. Investigators think more than $2 million dollars may have been swiped.

Police say Norgren was arrested on two felony counts. One for embezzlement of $100,0000 dollars or more, and the second for using computers to commit a crime. Both crimes carry a prison sentence of 20 years upon conviction. The embezzlement rap also may include a fine of up to $50,000 or three times the amount embezzled. The computer crime could result in a $20,000 fine on top of the prison sentence.

Police say Norgren was arraigned in 58th District Court on Thursday in Ottawa County. Bond was set at $250,000 cash/surety, and Norgren had to surrender her passport.

The investigation continues.
