Steve Yzerman is returning to the Red Wings.
Yzerman, who served two decades as the Red Wings captain while leading them to three Stanley Cups, will be named the franchise’s new general manager, according to two sources within the organization.
The Red Wings have called a 3 p.m. press conference Friday at Little Caesars Arena with owner Chris Ilitch, general manager Ken Holland and Yzerman.
