Victim's husband: Flasher picked the wrong woman

SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. (WOOD) — When Eldra Lee Thomas walked into a South Haven courtroom Wednesday, he likely didn’t even notice the man sitting in the gallery.

But Kirk Duncombe wasn’t going to miss Thomas’s guilty plea in a flashing case.

“I wanted to come here to make sure justice was done with Mr. Thomas,” Duncombe said. “I’m a bail bondsman, and the victim here in Van Buren County was my wife."

Duncombe’s wife was walking out of a Shell gas station in Harford Feb. 6 when Thomas called her over to his vehicle.

“He had the passenger side window down and was mumbling something she couldn’t quite hear. She was a little apprehensive but finally stopped, thought he was just asking for directions," Duncombe described. "He was asking what town he was in, and when she said he was in Hartford, then she noticed what he was doing to himself with his pants down in the car.”

Rather than being rattled, Duncombe’s wife calmly walked to the back of the vehicle and wrote down the license plate number, which ultimately led to Thomas' arrest.
