Deputies: Icy roads to blame for fatal Ottawa Co. crash

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was killed in a three-vehicle crash that closed eastbound I-196 in Hudsonville for more than four hours Friday night.

It happened shortly after 7 p.m. near the exit for 32nd Avenue in Hudsonville, at the 62 mile marker.

Ottawa County Central Dispatch confirmed the crash involved three vehicles and one person was injured. That person was later identified as Eldon Bylsma a 76-year-old man from Hudsonville and authorities later released that he died in the crash.

A tarp could be seen covering one of the vehicles as crews attempted to resuscitate the man but their attempts were unsuccessful.
