Wyoming PD: Suspicious package had wiring, fireworks

WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — Police say a suspicious package found outside a doctor's office in Wyoming had visible wiring and "the hallmarks of at least commercial grade fireworks."

The Wyoming Department of Public Safety says it was called to 56th Street near Gezon Parkway SW around 9:30 a.m. Friday for a suspicious package found on the sidewalk near a medical office building.

Officers evacuated the building and two nearby homes and advised other people in the neighborhood to shelter in place. Authorities also shut down portions of 56th Street and Gezon Parkway SW for about an hour while the Michigan State Police Bomb Squad evaluated the device.
