Wyoming school embraces student's inspirational emails

WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — An eighth-grader in Wyoming is battling the ugliness spread on social media, one positive email at a time.

Ian Jokerst said it all started last school year with a 7th grade assignment.

"We had to do a final project on how our words changed the world," explained student Ian Jokerst, who attends St. John Vianney Catholic School.

For his project, Jokerst decided to send emails to his classmates.

"I didn't expect a lot of them to actually look at the emails," said Jokerst.

But they did, and what they saw were daily messages of kindness, positivity and encouragement.

"I got a survey at the end and sent it to all of them and they said they all really liked it and they would like it to continue throughout the year," he said.
