GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A Grand Rapids woman who clawed her way back to sobriety after 19 failed rehab stints has a new talisman against drug addiction: her newborn son.
Kelly Gerth welcomed her 8-pound, 9-ounce boy in the early morning hours of Dec. 16.
“He is so sweet and precious. I never imagined unconditional love until I looked into the most innocent sweet eyes of my baby boy,” she posted on Facebook.
Kelly Gerth named her son Brandon Thompson. His middle is a tribute to her close friend, Tom, who she says helped save her life after a 15-year battle with addiction.
