Man arrested after 'ethnically intimidating' messages to ministry

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was arrested after allegedly sending threatening and racist emails and voicemails to a Grand Rapids ministry and funeral home.

Officers were called Thursday morning to Brown-Hutcherson Ministries located at 618 Jefferson Ave. SE and Brown’s Funeral Home at 627 Jefferson Ave. SE to investigate voicemails and emails directed at the facilities overnight.

Police say the messages were threatening and “ethnically intimidating” in nature.

Investigators learned two trespassers had been under the awning of the funeral home’s porch around 4 p.m. Wednesday. The people left the property after a short confrontation with a representative from the funeral home.
