Cousins talks Vikings, community impact at youth camp

HOLLAND, Mich. (via WOOD TV 8) — Kirk Cousins was back in West Michigan this weekend to host his annual football camp for kids at Hope College.

On Saturday, around 300 kids got the chance to be coached on football and life skills by one of the NFL’s highest-paid players.

“It means a lot for me to be back here because we love West Michigan and we love coming back and we want to have an impact on this community, hopefully like the generations ahead of me impacted my life,” Cousins said. “Hopefully we can leave that same imprint as the years go forward for the next generation to come behind us.”

While many stars use time spent in their hometown as an opportunity for privacy, Cousins frequently finds himself out connecting with the community.

“It’s fun to be here. I guess I’m an extrovert and I enjoy people and get energy from being around people and trying to make a difference,” Cousins said.
