Another area restaurant closes

(Grand Rapids, Mi) The Smokey Bones restaurant in Grand Rapids has closed its doors for good. A voicemail message when you call the location on 28th street near Patterson says the location has been closed permanently.

The company that owns Smokey Bones called Twin Hospitality Group has gone through several leadership changes in the past few weeks including a new Chairman of the Board among other things. In a press release on their website dated September 2, 2025, the company states they had identified 15 underperforming Smokey Bones eateries, and they would be closing.

This shuttering comes on the heels of numerous other restaurants around the Grand Rapids Metro area that have closed, places like the Grand Rapids Brewery right downtown, across the street from that location The Foolery. Some of the other places that are now closed include the Jolly Pumpkin and Wise Men Distillery, just to name a few. It should be noted that all of these locations have closed in the past year.
