(MUSKEGON, MI) Coles Quality Foods Bakery in Muskegon is closing its doors. The city of Muskegon says they received a warn letter telling them, the bakery on Lakeshore drive will be shutting its doors and laying off 175 people effective immediately.
The office staff will stay in place until early November to complete the closure process.In the WARN letter to the city no specific reason was given as to why only the explanation of "circumstances" have forced them to close. The bakery has been around since 1943 and makes frozen Texas toast, garlic bread and breadsticks.
They also have a location in Iowa and offices in Grand Rapids. There is no word on whether either of those locations are affected.
