Grand Haven adding new double red flag warning

Grand Haven State Park beach is adding a new warning flag.

A double red flag will be used to indicate days when water access is closed due to hazardous waves and water current.

The park posted the announcement on its Facebook page on Wednesday morning.

New signs with the updates flag system will be added to the shoreline.

Andrew Lundborg with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources says oceanfront communities and the National Park Services use the same flag system to indicate water access is closed.
