The Big Three 6-10-22

1 Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker announced the decision to charge a Grand Rapids Police officer in the death of Patrick Lyoya.

Officer Christopher Schurr will be arraigned on a second-degree murder charge. If convicted, he could face up to life in prison with the possibility of parole.

2 The average price that Americans pay for gasoline is now $5 a gallon. One year ago, it was $2.85.

California has the highest average price, at $6.40 a gallon, according to AAA. Several other Western states and Illinois are higher than $5.50. The lowest average is in Georgia, at $4.41.

3 Michigan gubernatorial candidate Ryan Kelley is facing misdemeanor charges for being at the Capitol on January 6th.

Kelley was arrested by the FBI at his home in Allendale Thursday morning.

  • Knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority
  • Disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds 
  • Knowingly engage in any act of physical violence against person or property in any restricted building or grounds
  • Willfully injure or commit any depredation against any property of the United States
